Telecom powerhouse Verizon announced this week that it had successfully implemented an integration of SAP data management applications into its Verizon Business offerings, which, the company says, should help businesses running SAP to excel even while on the go.
Verizon IT solutions executive director Joe Crawford said that "this new service is about one thing – easing our customers’ IT management load so they can get the best bang for their SAP application buck."
The company also said that SAP applications could be more easily managed via mobile devices, and that IT departments could save on infrastructure costs, as well. SAP data management users would also have access to a web portal for viewing their business-critical information.
The move comes against a somewhat gloomy backdrop for the telecom company, which announced earlier this week that it had suffered losses in the fourth quarter of 2009, despite the continued growth of its wireless services and the addition of 2.2 million new subscribers. Those new clients helped to boost the company’s text and data revenues to nearly $16 billion.
