SAP recently announced innovations to its StreamWork application that the company says will extend the availability of SAP data management solutions for on-premise, on-demand and mobile use.
StreamWork leverages technology from infrastructure software developer Novell to make cloud-based applications and information available quickly and securely, according to SAP.
“SAP StreamWork is a collaborative decision making - CDM – application, which is an emerging market category defined by Gartner, that allows business people to define a problem, find the right information and expertise, discuss an issue, brainstorm and evaluate options, and agree on a course of action,” Rita Sallam, Gartner research director, said.
For mobile employees, StreamWork is available to download from the Google App Store for use with mobile devices that run the Android mobile operating system. The app will also be available for BlackBerry smartphones in the coming months.
SAP has taken several steps to bolster its cloud and mobile offerings in recent months. The company updated its NetWeaver platform to “seed further cloud innovation” and established a Mobile Business Unit with Sybase, which SAP acquired earlier this year.
