Market research firm Trefis recently report business-intelligence software provider SAP’s position as the global leader in BI solutions is "in a healthy position" as the company has recently announced a number of new SAP data management solutions.
Trefis’ report found SAP’s ERP and CRM products make up 40 and 15 percent of its total stock, respectively. Furthermore, SAP continues to draw new customers away from its competitors. According to the report, any growth sustained by SAP will come at the expense of Microsoft and other producers of industry-best BI solutions.
However, despite the overall strong position of SAP, its market share in both ERP and SAP has declined since 2006. In recent months, co-CEOs Jim Hagmann Snabe and Bill McDermott have worked to improve the company’s reputation after taking over the post from Leo Apokether, who resigned earlier this year after a poor tenure atop the company.
Earlier this year, market research firm Gartner reported SAP is the global leader in BI market share with 22.4 percent of companies using its solutions. New developments, including cloud-based BusinessByDesign, will likely help SAP attract new customers to help it maintain this lead and offset any losses in CRM or ERP market share it has experienced in recent years.
