Speaking at the CeBIT technology conference in Hanover this week, SAP co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe said that innovation and responsiveness would be the business software maker’s new
watchwords.
McDermott said that "we have wonderful plans to innovate and make a difference for customers. So we expect fully to be an independent business software market leader and extend that lead over the next five years," according to Business Week. That magazine also reported that rumors have been circulating regarding the real reason for former CEO Leo Apotheker’s departure, pinning it on internal disagreements among the company’s three founders.
PC World reported that the company is attempting to reverse negative trends in employee morale and sales numbers following a rough 2009 in which a new support plan for SAP data management solutions was roundly criticized by the company’s clients.
The recent release of a Software-as-a-Service version of SAP’s core BusinessObjects suit was widely seen as a step in the right direction by tech industry analysts, as was the company’s return to its previous two-tiered model of customer support.
